Dino Lingo Curriculum Synopsis
Dino Lingo is geared toward young children who are learning a second language for the first time in their lives. As children at this age have a limited understanding of grammatical structures, Dino Lingo helps them improve their receptive vocabulary, which empowers students to use the target language naturally and formulaically with little assistance from an instructor necessary.
Children are expected to gradually gain rudimentary language skills that include phonemic awareness, a command of basic vocabulary, cross-cultural knowledge, and the ability to use every day phrases in the target language. Children taught using the Dino Lingo program are expected to make progress in these five areas:
Dino Lingo videos and vocabulary songs are designed to encourage children to repeat what they hear. Additionally, the Activity Book and flashcards provide numerous exercise opportunities which encourage the child's interaction with adults and prompt them to speak the words and phrases they hear narrated by native speakers in the DVDs.
The Dino Lingo curriculum includes an Alphabet Practice Book which contains multiple exercises designed to assist young scholars in mastering the letters of a new language. Additionally, the Activity Book provides pre-writing exercises including: drawing lines, practicing shapes, and coloring.
By listening to and repeating words spoken by native speakers in Dino Lingo DVDs and music CD's, students organically develop their latent ability to understand the subtleties of basic words and phrases.
The Alphabet Practice Book introduces young learners to the written form of the target language. This introduction serves as an effective aid to the recognition of words and images viewed on screen and in the many supplementary print materials provided.
The major focus of this program is vocabulary development. To support this goal, Dino Lingo provides 150 vocabulary-building flashcards, 13 vocabulary songs, 10 beautifully illustrated vocabulary posters, and a colorful vocabulary book in addition to the core curriculum 5-disc DVD set.
Please note: The Alphabet book, activity book, and music CDs are available only in select languages and select packages. They are not included in all packages.
